Woodbusker

Busselton, Western Australia, Nov8 2019
Travelling to reboot my emotions after having them shattered. I was going to need a lot of coffee.
How much?!
So get this $4.80 for a flat white?!
Surely not, I’d be heading home pretty quickly if I intended drinking out!
It wasn’t going to work, was it?!
But when I put together the idea of driftwood and logos and a chat, the opportunities exploded!
So down at Bean and Gone, a great little coffee bar in Busso, I went in with my artwork sign... ‘is this worth a coffee?’
OMG, have you made this for us?
Do you want a muffin also....!
The deal was done and #Woodbusking began.
Almost one year later and over 400logs engraved and an Instagram account @lylwood I’m still burning for a barter.
The journey has been awesome.
You name it I’ve done it, eaten it, drunk it, slept in it and travelled to it. I’m meeting great people on the journey and everyone really appreciates my work, it’s free to them after all and there is always a bartered reward!
From a packet of rice crackers to a days Packrafting with lunch included!
So what makes travel, the people you meet of course. They add the flavour, the humour, the stories and the recommendations and the friendships. Some of my best friends, genuine friends, we made when I was travelling and they continue!
It’s a great journey, keeps me sane and focused, my god I need that after what happened. This is my new life and it’s pretty good, it’s fresh, new and a challenge. It’s not a routine, it’s an adventure and yes, it’s all about what I wanna do and when I wanna do it.
Life’s good, the future is fresh and unknown. It’s scary but rewarding and has snapped me out of that long set plan or work, raise kids, work harder, retire, die!!
Time to live and turn any direction I want to, the travelling woodbusker!
I’m much more about images and photos so won’t blog much, everyone just says ‘you should write a blog’ , so I started with this!
Enjoy if you are interested 😎👌🏻🙃
